Jamaican Classics Cookery Lesson

### A Taste of the Caribbean: Our Latest Cookery Lesson

At Tan Rosie Caribbean Cookery School, we believe that food is not just about sustenance, but a celebration of culture, community, and joy. Yesterday, we had the pleasure of hosting a vibrant group of aspiring chefs for our Jamaican classics lesson, and it was an unforgettable experience filled with flavors, laughter, and learning.

#### The Journey Begins

The day started with a warm welcome as our participants arrived, eager to dive into the rich culinary traditions of Jamaica. The anticipation was palpable as we gathered around, introductions were made, and the aroma of spices began to fill the air. We shared the fascinating history behind the dishes we were about to prepare, setting the stage for a truly immersive experience.

#### Cooking Up a Storm

Our menu for the day featured some of Jamaica’s most beloved dishes: jerk chicken, rice and peas, fried plantain, and festivals. Each participant donned their aprons and got to work, guided by our expert chef’s tips and techniques. The kitchen buzzed with activity as everyone chopped, seasoned, and cooked, turning simple ingredients into mouth-watering masterpieces.

The jerk chicken, marinated in a blend of spices and slowly grilled to perfection, was a highlight for many. Its smoky, spicy flavour paired perfectly with the creamy coconut-infused rice and peas. The sweet, caramelized fried plantains and the soft, slightly sweet festivals added the perfect finishing touches to our Caribbean feast.

#### Sharing the Joy

One of the best parts of our cookery lessons is the camaraderie that develops as we cook together. Laughter echoed through the kitchen, and new friendships were formed over shared chopping boards and sizzling pans. It was heartwarming to see everyone come together, united by a love of food and a curiosity about Caribbean cuisine.

#### A Memorable Feast

As we sat down to enjoy the fruits of our labour, the sense of accomplishment was evident on everyone’s faces. The dishes were not just delicious, but a testament to the hard work and enthusiasm each participant brought to the lesson. We shared stories, tips, and of course,

plenty of food, creating memories that will last long after the last bite was taken.
